Atlantic Canada’s food and beverage processing sector is one of the region’s leading economic and export sectors. It encompasses at least 892 food and beverage processing companies, $6.6 billion in total revenues with an increase in food manufacturing of 7% since 2008. The sector employs over 37,000 employees and generates over $2 billion of the region’s GDP.

In 2015, New Brunswick exported close to $2.0 billion worth of agrifood and seafood products to 90 countries. The province exported $524 million worth of agrifood products and $1.4 billion worth of seafood products.

The top three agrifood exports in 2015 were: potato and potato products; beer; and live trees, plants and flowers.

The United States continued to be the largest export market for New Brunswick’s agrifood and seafood products. Other key markets are Asia and the European Union.
